Steps for Selecting the Ideal Location for Thruster Installation
Installation location is the top priority
and frequently can be the drawback for the estimate of thruster’s installation.
Bow
thrusters apparently should be mounted as far as possible with the
tunnel completely below the waterline to work efficiently. Some boats should be
installed under a forward bed or near the anchor locker.
While cutting an 8-inch straight through
the boat, it is quite vital to put into the right position, specifically when
you have to cut from both sides and get them perfectly aligned. First of all,
we make sure that the boat was levelled on the jack stands. Then we measured
from the bow to give us time for locating the centre holes. We ensure this by
getting through the hulls near the installation location during thrusters
installation.
Cover
the interior
Mariposa has a lovely interior along with
white carpeting. You’ll never want to spoil the interiors with any Maryland Bow thrusters out
there. We then cut the masking paper to permit access only the places required
to work.
Cut
the holes in the boat
This is undoubtedly the most stressful part
of the procedure, but it should be done. We commenced with a pilot hole in
every side. Fortunately, all our measuring aid off and our pilot holes were
seamlessly aligned. As long as the offset is less than the tunnel radius, the
holes won’t matter as all that material should be removed during Bow thruster installation.
The wiring involved here is quite simple, and the boat will already be equipped
with a spot on the 110V panel for a bow thruster battery charger, hence all we
should do is to install it in a proper way.
